Dolar melemah pada hari Senin (10/7) setelah data pekerjaan AS yang meleset menurunkan harapan pasar tentang seberapa jauh Federal Reserve perlu meningkatkan suku bunga, sementara perhatian pada sesi perdagangan di Asia tertuju pada rilis data inflasi China.
Data pada hari Jumat menunjukkan bahwa ekonomi AS menambahkan 209.000 pekerjaan bulan lalu, mencatat peningkatan terkecil dalam 2,5 tahun dan kali pertama dalam 15 bulan bahwa data gaji tidak memenuhi ekspektasi.
Hal tersebut membuat dolar turun hampir 1% terhadap sekumpulan mata uang pada hari Jumat, sementara yen dan poundsterling menguat.
Yen Jepang pada awal perdagangan Asia hari Senin terakhir berada di level 142,30 per dolar, setelah melonjak 1,4% pada hari Jumat menyusul penurunan dolar dan penurunan yield obligasi Amerika Serikat.
Pasangan Dolar/Yen sangat sensitif terhadap yield Amerika Serikat karena tingkat suku bunga di Jepang terkunci mendekati nol.
Poundsterling Inggris juga menguat mendekati level tertinggi lebih dari satu tahun di $1,2850 yang tercapai pada hari Jumat dan terakhir diperdagangkan di level $1,2829, seiring dengan meningkatnya spekulasi bahwa inflasi yang tetap tinggi di Inggris akan mendorong Bank of England untuk menaikkan suku bunga ke level tertinggi dalam 25 tahun yaitu 6,5% pada bulan Desember.
Euro sedikit turun menjadi $1,0958, setelah mengurangi sebagian dari kenaikan 0,7% pada hari Jumat, sementara indeks dolar AS naik 0,09% menjadi 102,38 namun tetap tidak jauh dari level terendah dua minggu pada 102,22 yang terjadi pada hari Jumat.
Di Asia, perhatian beralih ke data indeks harga konsumen China yang dijadwalkan dirilis hari ini, di mana harapannya adalah inflasi tetap stabil pada 0,2% di bulan Juni, yang kemungkinan akan memperkuat harapan investor terhadap langkah-langkah dukungan lebih lanjut dari Beijing.
Dolar Australia, yang sering digunakan sebagai representasi likuid untuk yuan, terakhir turun 0,14% menjadi $0,6683, sementara dolar Selandia Baru turun 0,16% menjadi $0,6199.
